Red House from the beach
View from the beach

Looking for an Oregon Coast getaway with your family and friends? Look no further than this incredible vacation home in quiet and scenic Otter Rock! With views of the ocean, easy access to the beach, and plenty of space for your dogs to run around, this home is perfect for those looking for a quiet place to get back in touch with nature.

This remodeled 1935 home sits on a large lot, with panoramic views of the ocean, the Devil’s Punchbowl and Gull Rock, as well as the wooded surroundings of the house. While enjoying a BBQ on the upper deck or soaking in the hot tub on the lower deck, you can often spot gray whales, a bald eagle, a variety of birds and an occasional chipmunk or rabbit. There is an outdoor sink underneath the deck with hot and cold water to wash off the sand from your beach treasures.

This multi-level home for six is full of history, and remodels have given it the best in modern comfort while preserving its antique charm. Guests must be able to navigate the original, steep stairs to have full access to the home, but they’ll be able to enjoy a spacious home filled with soft, warm colors, original woodwork and unique stone and tile accents accentuated by lots of natural light and ocean views through the windows.

During the cool, wet winter months you can watch the big waves, build a fire in the fireplace insert and cozy up with a good book. There are heaters in every room so you can stay warm throughout the house.

Location, Ocean View, Beach Access

Your new home-away-from-home has easy access to the beach via the Marine Garden trail less than a block away. This stretch of beach is unbeatable for its tidepools (with starfish, crabs, sea urchins, sea anemones), and beach-combing. At low tide you can walk into the Devil’s Punchbowl and at the north end of the beach, catch a close-up glimpse of harbor seals basking on the rocks. From your deck in the spring and fall there are always gray whales to see, spouting and frolicking close to Gull Rock (bring some binoculars.)

Just a short walk south down C Avenue to the south there are stairs down to the Long Beach (Beverly Beach), which any surfers in your group are sure to love. The Devil’s Punchbowl State Park is just a short walk, where you can whale watch, peer down into the Punchbowl, enjoy a delicious meal at Mo’s West, grab a cup of coffee, fudge, ice cream at Cliffside Coffee and Sweets and even do a little wine tasting at the Flying Dutchman Winery.

What the Area Offers

Though Otter Rock has only a few businesses, it is well suited for travelers who want a quieter, more relaxed vacation than larger nearby towns can offer. If you want to do a little shopping or want more restaurant choices, drive south about seven miles to bustling Newport. There you’ll find a surprising variety of eateries and shops, plus activities ranging from visiting the Yaquina Head Lighthouse to exploring the Oregon Coast Aquarium and much more.

With a perfect combination of modern comforts and natural access, this home provides an incredible experience you won’t want to miss.
